We combine official datasets with transparent calculations to help you compare suburb safety.

Crime Data

Our crime statistics are sourced from official New Zealand Police data and updated monthly where available. We calculate rates per 1,000 residents using the latest population estimates we have for each suburb.

Demographic Data

This work is based on/includes Stats NZ 's data which are licensed by Stats NZ for reuse under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence .

Data is sourced from the 2023 Census at the Statistical Area 1 (SA1) level and aggregated to suburb boundaries.
